Wowza Media Systems Doubles User Base in 6 Months

Company Surpasses 20,000 Global Licensee Milestone for Its Award-Winning
Wowza Media Server® Pro

Evergreen, CO, March 30, 2009—Wowza Media Systems, an emerging leader in streaming media server software, today announced that it has surpassed a new milestone of 20,000 licensees for its award-winning Wowza Media Server Pro software. The announcement comes six months after the company confirmed its 10,000th customer.

Wowza Media Server Pro is a high-performance, extensive and fully interactive Flash® media server for live and on-demand streaming, chat, recording, and other rich-media applications that began shipping in February 2007. Wowza Media Systems attributes its success to delivering exceptional overall value compared to its competitors, citing performance, economics, support, and technical innovation.

"Wowza Media Systems quickly attracted a loyal global customer base for reasons beyond the sensible price point," said David Stubenvoll, CEO and Co-Founder, Wowza Media Systems. "Simply put, Wowza Media Systems understands that media servers are a critical piece of infrastructure. As such, we believe the media server matters most and should not be a loss leader for someone trying to sell something else, like an OS or authoring tool. Over the past two years we have introduced, distributed and supported a media server software solution that offers more features, better performance, greater reliability and unmatched interoperability across multiple OS platforms."

Significant licensees in the past six months include broadcasters TV Azteca of Mexico, CBC Radio Canada and GMG Radio, a division of the Guardian Media Group; 19 Entertainment, the production company for the popular U.S. TV show "American Idol"; ZON Multimedia, Portugal's largest triple-play operator; and content delivery networks SimpleCDN and Advection.NET.

"Everything that Wowza Media Systems delivers points to outstanding value," said Frank Wilson, Chief Engineer, SimpleCDN. "While price is significant to any technology purchase in this economic climate, Wowza Media Server Pro brings additional value through a reliable, feature-rich product with superior innovation and an unparalleled support team."

Wowza Media Systems continues to grow its North American and European businesses, with an eye toward expanding business in Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region. The company is also expanding its global service provider business with its recently announced Wowza Pro Software Subscription licensing, a risk-free model for deploying Flash streaming services.
