Wowza Media Server offers you a greatly expanded set of capabilities over its predecessor Wowza Media Server Pro, including the addition of iPhone, Silverlight, and IPTV set-top box streaming and support for other clients and devices. It lets you expand the reach of your content like no other server on the market today.

Upgrading to Wowza Media Server 2 is the only way you will be able to receive future software updates and patches. Wowza Media Server Pro 1.x.x software will no longer be updated.

No. You need to obtain a Wowza Media Server 2 license key appropriate for your product edition. For upgrade instructions visit the Trade Up page or go to Wowza Store page to purchase additional licenses.

No. The Wowza Media Server 2 production license keys will not work with Wowza 2 Preview release software (Preview 1 trough Preview 9). The last Preview (Preview 9) software will become inoperable on January 15, 2010 and cannot be used after that date.

No. The evaluation license keys issued for Wowza 2 Preview release software (Preview 1 trough Preview 9) will not work with production Wowza Media Server 2 software.

Configuration structures in Wowza Media Server 2 have changed. You will need to remake all configurations and properly tune the server following General Tuning Instructions.
